Social media is always trying to sell me stuff. I google one thing and suddenly my newsfeed is saturated with it. I was looking online for a canvas with Lamentations 3:22-23 to put on a big blank wall above my bed and several months later I am still scrolling through ads for canvases. I’m complaining but I secretly like to shop through them when they pop up (it works, @Facebook). In my recent online shopping trips, I’ve come across a certain quote written on all kinds of things. It says, “I choose you. And I’ll choose you, over and over and over. Without pause, without a doubt, in a heartbeat. I’ll keep choosing you.”
When I read this quote for the first time, I immediately thought of all the girls out there who are turning into a complete pile of mush at the idea of such a devoted and powerful love. I know I did. But then it hit me.
This is how Jesus loves me.
This is how Jesus loves YOU. In John 15:9, Jesus says, “As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love.” In the same way and same magnitude that God loves Jesus, Jesus loves you. And the best part? He loved you like that before you even knew Him. We see this in Romans 5:8 when Paul says, “But God shows His love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
This is unconditional love. It’s perfect, constant and a free gift to you from God (Romans 6:23). Jesus chooses you. And He’ll choose you, over and over and over. Without pause, without a doubt, in a heartbeat. Jesus will keep choosing you.
